Shore Excursions
Cycling Tour
APPROXIMATE DURATION: 4 HOURS
Starting from the cruise ship pier, passengers will be greeted by friendly staff and fitted with
quality mountain bikes and helmet. Then its time to explore, by bike, some
of historical points of interest scattered around Road Town, led
by an experienced and helpful guide before setting off along the picturesque
coastal road of the Sir Francis Drake Highway towards the west end
of Tortola. This is a flat and easy ride with exquisite views
of the neighbouring Virgin Islands which lie just a stone's throw away.
The local guide will explain some of the sights on the
way such as the old plantation of Sir William Thornton. There will
be plenty of chances to take photographs and there will also be periodic
water stops along the way. (Cycle time between 2 - 2.5 hours)
At the far west end of Tortola lies Sopher's Hole Marina, the most picture-perfect
marina on the island where exists a beautiful melange of pastel shades and
Caribbean architecture. Here passengers will be invited to enjoy
the complimentary fruit punch and then to explore the local spice
and craft shops for possible souvenirs.
The awaiting taxis will then
take passengers back to the cruise ship dock (approx. 20 minute ride). |
